Over $5000 in cents searched and I still have not found a 1909 VDB. A couple 1909, but not VDB. Congrats!

Hello Cent Hunting Friends, I had a really nice find last night but before I tell what it is, I want to give a little background. I started searching cents as a way to get my daughter interested. She just look for wheat's and anything "different". It worked, but it wasn't long before I was the one 'interested'. I go through roughly 5 or 6 boxes per week. But I enjoy going through them more than looking for the actual errors. So I pull all wheat's and several of the LMC's that I'm interested in or grade high. I pull all 2000. 1999, 1998, 1995, 1992(d),1984, 1983, 1972, 1972s, 1970s, 1969s, 1960, and 1960d. Recently I decided its time to start going through them because I'm overwhelmed with tons of extra cents. I purchased a couple big sturdy plastic boxes that have a lid and several bins. It's perfect for what I need. Ok, now the cool part. Last night, I studied up on the 1970S, looking in several books. I decided to look for 2 different DDO's, 2 RPM's, and of course the small date. Now, I naturally glance at most of the 1960(d) and 1970S when I'm pulling them. There have been many times when I set a 1970S aside because I thought it "might be" a small date. Many of you probably know what I mean. Last night, as I was going through them, I had set a couple 'maybe' coins to the side when all of a sudden BAM. There it was. No doubt. Its just like most you knowledgeable guys have said here. When you see it, there's no doubt. For me, it was the height of the '7' that caught my eye first. Then the way the circle in the '9' finishes. Of course, from there, I checked the other attributes. The 'ty' in Liberty was weak. I'm still pretty pumped about it. I'll try to get a picture of it soon. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you about the condition. This is the only downside. The coin is pretty rough. It's fairly well circulated but it also has some shallow small gauges (or maybe large coin dings). Looks decent in hand but rough under magnification. OO

I went on ebay to see what the true market value is for the 1970S SD today. For the record, I have no plans to part with it. I just want to tell my wife how much I could sell it for. Thee are several 1970S large dates that are being sold as small date. I'm guessing it's not intentional but still. Be careful if you decide to buy one. OO

There are always a TON of 70-S LD's on ebay listed as SD's. If you buy a raw one on ebay, you'd better know the difference!

You're not kidding BadThad. I went back and looked at all the sold ones. One seller is selling 1970S LD advertised as SD one after the other. Most are between $5 and $15 but still. Before I had mine in hand, I wouldn't have known the difference.
As others have suggested, it would be money well spent to buy a SD from reputable person, before roll searching.

7th box! Had only 7 wheaties and 4 Canadians, but the interesting finds more than made up for the lack of quantity. Wheaties: 1943 First steel cent (from a machine wrapped roll)! 1944 counterstamped 1944-D 1947-S 1950 1956-D 1957-D Canadians: 1953 1963 1995 1996 Also found this 1971 penny that looks like it was cast or something.
