Went out of my way to get two boxes of brinks pennies yesterday morning and boy am I glad I did! I found my very first 1998 Wide AM (and first am of any kind). It is a beauty and looks great other than a scratch I found on one of the letters. Also came up with a couple bu 1979 memorials and a 1930 wheat in vf. This is on top of the normal mix of copper pennies and bu zincs I typically pull. I tried post the pictures I took of it but my computer is not reading my 3.5 inch floppy. Thanks everyone as it was you forum members that encouraged me to look for these when I searched pennies! Sincerely, John Leckrone Happy dance time!!

New member here, first post. I pulled out my coin collection a few weeks ago after a 25 year hiatus from collecting. I've searched 30 rolls plus about $30.00 or so in pennies that I've just not spent over the last 25 years. In the last roll I searched I found a 98 WAM. It's got some nicks on the back, but it is what it is. One week ago I didn't even know that a WAM existed. Now I've got one in my collection. Sorry, I don't have a camera that is good enough to take pix for posting. Maybe I'll get one for Christmas.

I just got my fourth box from a bank I haven't tried yet. They are all customer-rolled pennies and are in three different types of wrappers. I started with the brown wrappers, only scanning for wheats first (I'll look at other dates later). The first seven rolls had a total of one wheat and an old Canadian penny. I decided to switch to the red and tan striped wrappers and the first roll had 22 wheat pennies! All 40s and 50s except for one 1930. I'm so happy because the last box didn't have one single wheat, Canadian, or WAM, or any of the other things I'm learning to look for. I think I'll open all the red striped rolls first. :o) Thanks for letting me share.

I searched a box of cents last week and found: Seven Wheat Cents (2X 1944, 1945, 1951S, 1955, 1955D, 1956D) One Canadian Cent (1981) 41 2009D LP1 8 2009D LP2 47 2009D LP3 It was an average box except for the high amount of 2009 cents. I searched another box today and found: My first 1998 WAM! 16 2009D LP1 4 2009D LP2 8 2009D LP3 Seven Wheat Cents (1920S, 1942, 1947D, 1953D, 1956D, 1958, and 1958D) One Canadian Cent (A 1979) Pics of 1998 WAM

I picked up $10.00 worth yesterday. Found 4 wheats (1938 was the oldest), a 1940 Canadian and my second 1998 WAM. I also found 12 wood grain pennies, a '73D and a '73, the rest were '80 and '81 P and D. Most of them were grained on the obverse only. Three of them were on both sides. Is it more common to find them one-sided? Also, is there a market for these, or are they just fun to collect. I tried taking some pix on my cheap digi camera, but none of them turned out. Sorry I can't share.

IM IN!! I've been reading for a long time and can't believe its taken me this long to post. I've been searching pennies for years now and have quit an operation of sorting going. When I found this forum it made me feel sooo good because now I know I'm not nuts for having rolls and rolls of pretty copper. If I am nuts, at least I'm in good company!

My most recent Fed box included about 50 uncirculated 1979 pennies -- spread across many rolls. Someone must have poured an uncirculated 1979 roll into a change machine somewhere! As a sideline, I've started collected the Canadian pennies that have King George VI on them (1939-1952, I think). I like to think of them as the wheat pennies of Canada! JDH

Cool coin there! I love that no matter how many rolls or boxes I search through there are always those beauties (60's, 70's & 80's) that look as if they have never been touched...I found two 59's in pristine condition in my last two rolls. Just amazing.
