Question About 2020 P Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Cladding Issue.

fplagge Pillar of the Community United States 659 Posts	Posted 11/22/2020 10:11 pm In going through $500.00 of 100% 2020 P Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller quarters - Straight from the Fed - I found eight of them which were silver on both sides but lacked a "polished" finish. They do have a bit of a sheen, just not a mirror-like shine. Have any of you run across this? I am not sure what to call this since they are obviously "clad". Did the mint possibly miss a step in which they should have been polished? Help! Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 11/23/2020 12:31 am I had to look these up. They are normal business strike quarters. The quality of the stock varies. They don't polish these. When they are discolored, the is not a plus for the coins. So they are not a high quality item, like a proof. When I get an original wrapped roll, I refer to these as OBW (Original-Bank-Wrap) rolls.They come from the wrapping locations. They wrap what they get in the pallet: Report this Post to the Staff

The metal clarity can factor into a grade. (Although I wouldn't have any of these graded as the cost would be greater than the value of the coin. Report this Post to the Staff
