Hello everyone in the CCF family. Picking my way through an old pile of coins and discovered this one that I believe is a 1944-P, but the area where a mint mark would be, looks rather odd magnified. She's been through some times, but considering it's a shell-casing Copper, who knew? Could just be wear and tear?....Which is why I turn to you experts. Also, the OBV detail "TRUST" starts to disappear after the first T and by the second T it's vaguely there. It's just a gradual progression across the word, which left me curious and somewhat puzzled. I looked elsewhere (including CCF Forums), and while I found a bucket-load of 1944 Wheat information, nothing seemed to be like this. Also, while the REV shows some damage, it is amazing to me how much detail can be easily viewed (without magnifying). So, of course, I turned to you folks to help create a dialogue to compare and contrast.

You know I respect your opinions and feedback, and look forward to anything you want to share to educate me even more.

Thank you very much in advance.

Perhaps slight grease effects on TRUST. Otherwise appear to be just a normal corroded cent of the era, worth just a couple of cents for its melt value.
Rest in Peace

True ,but being it's against the law to melt copper cents right now , it's just worth 1¢ .

Grease issue (progressive clockwise) on TRUST. Lots of circulation wear and staining.

I agree, perhaps a slight grease issue in "trust", combined with heavy wear. Condition and vast number of these available really affect the value. As mentioned, value here is only a few cents. That's the wholesale price on wheaties I'm afraid.

That's fair. The many in circulation was a piece that I had read someplace, but the grease issue never crossed my mind. Still....she's a beat up Wheatie, but I think I'll keep it for personal reasons....not that far away it will be celebrating higher anniversaries.

Thanks again to everyone....will be checking in again soon, you can bet. Learning so much with this CCF family!

Please stay safe.

The black spots are carbon spots. Just a Wheat cent now in this condition.
