1944-P Lincoln Wheat Cent

Hello everyone in the CCF family. Picking my way through an old pile of coins and discovered this one that I believe is a 1944-P, but the area where a mint mark would be, looks rather odd magnified. She's been through some times, but considering it's a shell-casing Copper, who knew? Could just be wear and tear?....Which is why I turn to you experts. Also, the OBV detail "TRUST" starts to disappear after the first T and by the second T it's vaguely there. It's just a gradual progression across the word, which left me curious and somewhat puzzled. I looked elsewhere (including CCF Forums), and while I found a bucket-load of 1944 Wheat information, nothing seemed to be like this. Also, while the REV shows some damage, it is amazing to me how much detail can be easily viewed (without magnifying). So, of course, I turned to you folks to help create a dialogue to compare and contrast.
