I would like to see wheezydog eat his hat! Not because I'd find any particular joy in that (what kind of hat is it?), but because for that to be the real deal would be fantastic.

Under normal circumstances, I would give a reprimand stating that there are to be no personal attacks on this forum. However, this one gave me a pretty good chuckle this morning with how it just kind of popped up in the middle of a pretty good debate on authenticity. I'm not condoning the behavior per se, but I want all to realize that comments like this can be worded in such a way as to not take offense like this one. We are all human, and a certain amount of levity is always welcome here. This is just an example of a well placed jab, and my guess is that Wheezydog will take it as such.

Oh, and my honest thoughts are authentic, but more from a metal flow look than other markers. Someone did a fantastic job of creating this one if it's not real.

Hey guys. Haha I like the spirited argument about the coin. One reason I could never decide for myself. I'll add more pics of it later tonight after I get home from work.

I just made a hat out of French Toast and ate it for breakfast.
Just in case ....

No I am not the least bit bothered about any comments. I am smiling myself as I type away.
One thing for sure, I think we will end up with a verdict on this coin eventually and it is an educational topic.

Since I am asking for images, I thought I ought to be willing to do the same and get one done for the one I have and post it here.
Sorry it is still in the airtight holder.
Mine is in a very similar grade as the one ela126 has posted about.

If the one I have pictured here is not real, I'll make breakfast again tomorrow and have egg on my face.

to say - I think it is fake.
If you compare the E PLURIBUS UNUM, it appears that it is too close to the buffalo.

Wheezydog, even though I did want to see you eat your hat, I don't want to see you with egg on your face! Nice looking coin, even though someone stole one of the buffalo's legs.

I won't quit my day job.

Hopefully we can see some straight-on shots of the OP's coin.

I took sometime last night and looked around at slabbed examples of this variety it seems that this is one of those that is consistently overgraded by the top two TPG's .

this coin looks much better than the VF-25 examples that are being slabbed I may have been a little bit harsh on the grade of this coin by following what should be the criteria .

as far authenticity , I will leave that to all of you and look forward to the coming conversation concerning the coin .

Me neither, I hope I am wrong for the Buffalo's sake too. I think it is cruel to cut off his leg so I hope he was just born that way.
Oh ... that might be cruel too? but better for ela126 anyways.

To add the same sentiment to Wheezydog's, I, of course, also hope it is real for ela126. I will find it very interesting as to the result. Photos can be deceiving.
And if you have watched my postings in "varieties", I have been wrong before

Best of luck

Jim

Question here. Don't pay much attention to the buffalo series, but if this is a result of filing or polishing the die shouldn't the mintmark be in the same location? Looks to me like it is in a different location. Food for thought.
