1. Based on maddieclashes, this nickel is best described as a Rotated Die Error. How do you know whether to measure the rotation as CW or CCW? Is this the primary factor in assessing whether such an error is collectible?
2. How do you know if this was an anvil or hammer issue?
3. What are the key points to examine whether this is a stable or dynamic clash?

When I get to my camera system, I'll send better photos not from this iPhone, if there is something I should capture on this coin, please direct.

Thank you for looking!

Yours is rotated. Nice find! I would think at least 90 degrees would pay the larger premiums.

Best way to photograph these is slightly obliquely and in front of a mirror. That way both sides get capture in a single pic. Your seems to be in the 10 degree range, which is a fun find, but not sure that there is much of a premium.

1) I'd say that you call it CW or CCW up until 180° in either direction. You could technically day a 90° CW is a 270° CCW, but I think that's silly. I think you measure how the reverse relates to the obverse.
2)I think it is impossible to know which die was rotated. The same results are achieved by both options. I do believe that hammer dies tend to rotate more so than anvil dies.
3) No clue what you mean by the question, but the term "clash" does not apply to you coin. (Unless in addition to being rotated, it is also clashed)

In general, it is not a matter of direction of rotation, but degrees of rotation. Anything under about 20 degrees is pretty common and doesn't attract much attention. Getting to around 45 degrees will command some premium. At 90 degrees they become collectible and there is a list of known examples.

Even so, they aren't usually super expensive. I recently bought this 1982 Lincoln, 180 degrees off and in MS condition slabbed, for $50. It probably cost the person $40 to get it slabbed.
