Sent this 1988 Lincoln Cent that I thought was a RDV6 and it came back without that designation. Any thoughts. From all I have seen, it meets the criteria for this transitional cent. BTW...it graded at MS63RB.

Well it is a RDV-006. But Did you specify this on submission?

Coop...I did indicate it on the submission form. I even call them and asked and they said that the graders determined it was not an RDV6. Left me confused to say the least. Just didn't know if there was some other die marker that doesn't show or that they looked at to make that determination.

They dropped the ball on this one. They're usually much better. They got mine right

Thanks Jbuck for the welcome! GrapeCollects...now I'm jealous! Is there any recourse on my part? Is it worth making a fuss over?

Well, they are wrong. The 'AM' on America is showing the flat devices, the RDV-005 'AM' has the rounded devices. They messed up on this one.

Quote: Is it worth making a fuss over? You paid some of "the coin experts" to do a correct job and therefore are entitled to the "expert" service you paid for (despite this somehow escaping the attention of the three assigned, trained, professional graders the company claims to see each coin - just HOW is this possible anyway when we untrained peons on a forum can see the DDO?).

If I spend the money to get a coin slabbed by a big TPG I want to have it slabbed correctly as I paid for. In this case they did misattribute it, you do have RDV-006 FS-901. -CH27

From what I understand, they will correct their mistake but you will have to pay for shipping again.
Congrats on a nice find.

Yes they will correct it. That's too bad you have to deal with it again, especially when there are lots of RDV-005 attributed as the " Wide AM" FS-901. Not sure why " Wide AM" is part of being an RDV-006 when all 1988 are Wide AM. Made everyone on ebay think they had some special coin and then people without the knowledge buying them up. They dropped the ball on this one. Thanks for the AM close up marker coop. I didnt know about it being flat. Good marker to pick ebay with.

Yes you can send it back in for review, and if they do decide they were wrong they will pick up the shipping charge. On the other hand if they stand with their origonal opinion you are on the hook for the shipping and the g"grading" cost again. Quote: Not sure why " Wide AM" is part of being an RDV-006 when all 1988 are Wide AM. Only PCGS does that, which confuses a lot of newbies who find a 1988 cent with a Wide AM (which is all of them) and think they have the valuable FS-901.
