here is the reverse of a 1943P walker 50cent. The right leg of the eagle has a hole in it, pretty obvious (maybe not through the pics) that this is not post mint damage. What causes this? I don't have a good pic of the obverse right now.

This happens when a piece of grit gets into the die and sits there. Coins are struck through the piece of grit, so the metal doesn't fill in the die like it should. No premium value.

yeah, I figured it to be crud on the die. I imagine something like this would have to be huge before it forced the coin to have a premium value.

rockdude, thanks - these coins are one of my favorites, great looking.
This is the only one I have in higher grade, all the others are about worn flat.....
