I recently purchased this one and was curious what you guys think the grade is. Been trying to hone my grading skills and seeing what others think gives me a better understanding of how I'm coming along.   *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. *** |

I'm at MS62. Check and Eagles breast keep this one from grading higher.

the weakness around the ear and breast are typical for this year. a good bit of chatter on the obverse on both the profile and field. the reverse has multiple small marks across the breast and reeding just above the arrow points. luster broken on the obverse but for the most part intact on the reverse. this coin will fall into the MS63 bucket and a valuable coin in this grade. the coin appears to be the capped die variety

Graders may have pushed it to 63 just for the CC. Lotsa chatter on the cheek and the eagles breast

I thought for a second that the weakness of the breast almost worried me of it being AU.
But I have seen other ones that look similar.
I have thought about asking my local dealer his thoughts.
Do you think this might crossover at PCGS?
