Hello,
I am new to this whole thing and I have come across this 1992-P Kennedy half dollar and I am told it is a proof and double die obverse.

1992-P-Kennedy-Half-Dollar-DDO/Pr?
1992-P-Kennedy-Half-Dollar-DDO/Pr?

I can see the DDO. Specifically I took pictures of it around GOD:
1992-P-Kennedy-Half-Dollar-DDO/Pr?

the mint mark:
1992-P-Kennedy-Half-Dollar-DDO/Pr?

and the 9 in the date:
1992-P-Kennedy-Half-Dollar-DDO/Pr?

Am I correct in understanding this as a DDO?

I can't see a difference in the proof section of the PCGS site here https://www.PCGS.com/coinfacts/coin...images/96834 There are what I have understood to be a proof in that it has the mirror look. However, the one just above it is same grade, but the cloudy silver (like mine). Since this is clearly a P mint mark, and PCGS only shows the proof being an S, I am guessing I was told wrong about the proof part. Do I have that correct?

Last question: I can't seem to find any information on what kind of value I could be looking at with this coin. I know grading has a lot to do with it, but I can't seem to find another who has this DDO (at least not from the P mint which is what I've been searching), so I don't know what I'm looking at. Only one? I can't be that lucky, but maybe?

A long shot, and I know I may be asking for the moon here, but could someone possibly have a rough estimate on a grade? I'm new, but was thinking a 58?

Thanks everyone!

to CCF. Does not look like a proof coin. Looks like MD=machine doubling, not a doubled die.Not a RPM,they stopped in 1990.

Thanks for the welcomes!

I appreciate the clarification as well. I did a little more digging to understand some things you mentioned and realize now the difference between DD and MD really clearly. I know it can be subtle sometimes, but I do clearly see here it is not DD.

Just a regular ol' Kennedy 50C from 1992. :)

However, I do have one follow-up question to your comment about not being RPM. It seems that there are really 3 differences here. DD (Double Die), MD ( Machine Doubling), RPM (Repunched Mint Mark). If a coin is DD, could it also be RPM? I know that there are some instances where there is both DD and MD, but all 3? I suppose the answer is a "there could be" but looking for more of a "have you ever heard of such a thing actually happening?"

Thanks again! I feel as though I am going to be getting on this forum a lot more now that I am starting to get into Numismatics way more.

It can be,but not after 1989. RPMs stopped in 1990.

If it were a proof coin is would have been a 1992-'S' mint coin:
