Just got this one out of roll about a half hour ago. It's my first Floating Roof that I feel actually meets the criteria!

While these are fun to look for, these are not an "error." The dies were polished at the mint. The person performing the task was over zealous and so the roof appears detached.

The "floating roof error" term has been made popular by people findng a marketable nickname (such as on ebay).

SO congrats on finding it - there is no right or wrong way to enjoy the hobby! Its all about fun :)

Yeah, it's just a fun find. You guys know how it goes, if someone gives it title it's got a little imaginary check box next to it. Gotta get them all (as I shake my head). I'm to the coffee can point myself.. There's so many of these little things. What the heck am I gonna do with all of these things? Trying to decide which is in the "Get graded maybe someday if I can ever figure the process out and/or afford it Box", what earns it's place in a 2x2, what's just "Throw it in a book Neat", what's maybe someday ever ebay-able if I can ever get these things sorted out, or what just gets tossed in a can to someday become someone else's mess to figure out when I'm gone, and why am I saving all these Shield Cent DDO's? ...

So, no, not much value here. Not a real error. But I thought this little fella deserved a forum posting before he gets tossed in the can...

(But this one might actually get a 2x2... After all, first times are special... Smh...)

I agree..2x2 it and date it (where, when and how found) years from now you can look back and chuckle....Everyone should have at least 1 in their collection...good luck on future finds, have fun.
