Hello and thanks in advance for any help. I found 2 1968-S cents with the same strike on the reverse. Maybe it's a strike through or some type of Mechanical Doubling or double strike, but it seems strange to be exactly the same on 2 coins. I show the 2 coins in question and normal struck 1968-S on the images. It's mainly with the E in E. PLURIBUS UNUM, and the letters in STATES and OF. Also they both have a line splitting the top part of the E in AMERICA. Plus the rim around the edge gets thinner in the same areas on the 2 coins compared to the other. The obverse doesn't seem to have anything going on. Any ideas what caused this? Is it common for 2 coins to have the exact same Mechanical Doubling or strike through if that's what this is?
Here is an image of the obverse of one of the coins. There is nothing going on with the front that I could see so I only have the full image. If you want me to zoom in on any areas please let me know. I don't think these started life as a proof.
Plus the rim around the edge gets thinner in the same places on those 2 coins on the reverse as you can see in the pics. Obverse doesn't appear to be like that. Same light colored areas too, but that might be the lighting. So weird to find 2 exactly the same.
