Curious for people's grade estimates on this guy. I like the toning and the detail is good. I suspect there would be significant differences in grade from ICCS to PCGS....

I have a tough time with these, I want to say AU but not sure exactly where in that range.

It's always safe at VF-30. Getting an EF on this series is tough.

This is precisely my dilemma. I think the difference between EF and AU is partly the extent of the wear (a little more on EF) but perhaps more importantly the amount of mint frost that remains. I don't think you have an AU without it. The problem is that it's hard to tell from a photo like this. For example, I don't see any halo effect - which would imply some residual frost on the periphery.

On the other hand, the detail on this guy is very nice - there's no that much wear - and the toning is extremely nice and perfectly even. So it's a tough one. But the price differential between EF and AU is a doozy.

I think VF30 is too conservative though I agree that it's better to low-ball initially and then look for qualities that bring the thing up.

very, very close to ef40.. but ICCS, is strict grading these coins, if you were to have PCGS grade it, it would be ef45.

FYI, the coin is actually graded EF-45 by ICCS.

If it's an EF-45 then the pic has been taken through the filtering of plastic. There was a coin on here in the last two weeks, its pic taken through plastic, that had smashed from high MS to the VF regions.

Looks like a pretty solid EF coin , pleasing actually.
The reverse especially shows light environmental
issues and would be a great candidate for
a week long acetone soak . Should be
conservable .

Im at EF40. Such a nice coin with an obvious exceptional strike and very little wear.

Cheers

I can agree with the EF45 grade on this...pictures ar dark...looks like more wear on the left side of the reverse?...I just see too muck war for an AU...certainly bo luster for a high AU.
