Hey guys, I'm a little stressed right now and I dont really know what to do. I bought a coin off ebay from a seller called cscoinsnbanknotes. He had good reviews so I thought why not. But when I received the coin it did not look "BU" to me and when I put an issue up on ebay. He claims "That is not the coin as shown this coin is BU graded by a well known coin store and graded by peers at a coin club." So is this coin "BU" or is it not because in my opinion I this that it is VG to EF. I will put some pictures and some links aswell His ebay: https://www.ebay.ca/usr/cscoinsnbanknotesThe listing: 373380861071The Coin The message

Not BU; VF-30 at best.
The ear is well-worn and the crown jewels and the king's face also show wear.
So the seller is saying your photos are not of his coin?

Yes, I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens. I was really hoping it to be at least AU but The luster fooled me.

The picture he took makes it look like there's no scratches but if you look closely on the obverse on his picture you can see them. Same area as the coin I showed proving that these coins are the same

The Coin pictured certainly is BU by any experts standards . B in U sed for certain . With a feed back of 32 you are dealing with a newb or a rank amateur . Return is definitely in order . That particular date is a known " Hoard Date " many wonderful lots have shown over the years . The Late Doug Robins had a hoard of well over a hundred GEMS Back in the 1980s. This summer I purchased 35 beauties in Victoria . Only buy this date in MS65 or better ! 203095305581 ebay listing

That's the same coin and if it's still in the original 2x2 (with ink stain) should be an easy return with ebays help.
Just do as TNG stated

Fine details at best, just a rip off, you have a clear case for a return.

Is this suppose to be the link to a 1902 H? Where is the H?

I suspect we've all been burned on ebay before. I usually take it as a buyer beware situation and try to learn from the experience. In this case, I would say the original photos were cannily chosen to make the coin look better than it is - heavy side lighting makes the raised elements appear more 3d. As regards his calling it BU, there are lots of coins in PCGS holders that are generously graded. Point being that you need to be careful and make sure you know what you're looking at to the best of your ability. If you're not certain and it matters given the price then it's best to walk away.

ouch! the seller knew what he was doing. is it not against ebay policy to post other images than that of the actual subject item?

Thanks for responding everyone. I opened a case the minute I opened the package. But I guess I cant win as this coin was graded "BU" by a "well known coin store" and "peers at a local coin club".

Given ebay's policy, they always side with the buyer, whether they have a good case or not. So file a request on ebay and return the item.
