Been lurking here for several years, collecting for about 50. Never too old to learn, so it is great to have so many professional sounding members here to learn from. Have been upgrading my collections over the past 15 years or so. Cent, nickel, dimes and quarters mostly. As I continue to try and upgrade, I am seeing so many fake coins and it is truly disheartening. By reading so many topics here and relying on experience, I think I have avoided a number of fakes. So, thank you to all of you for your expertise. I bet there are a lot of people like me lurking

- from the year of your 'handle' I believe I've been collecting about as long as you. I just want to say that I am glad I joined a forum about 15 years ago as it has really helped me know (guide me) as to how (& what to) collect.

I'm always amazed at how many collectors choose to lurk rather than register & contribute. I suppose it's because collecting is a solitary hobby. Yes, it takes a little effort but the satisfaction of learning, getting exposure to what others collect (others' opinions) is really healthy for one's growth as a collector. There's always more to collecting than just acquiring. (Others here may even give insight on where/how to source coins, etc) So, I hope you post and get to know some of the kind (& helpful) folks here on CCF.

Thank you for the kind words of welcome. I recently found out that a friend of mine has a young daughter who has been bitten by the coin collecting bug. I gathered up a small box of extras from my collection and gave them to her. She was extremely excited going through the box and I hope she continues to travel down the path of so many of us who started out very young. Lot of wonderful people in this hobby, so I feel priviledged to add whatever little bit I can as time goes on.

Welcome to CCF from another older collector!

Glad to see you're encouraging the younger collectors. I try to do the same when I see a spark of interest.

Welcome from another older collector from Linville, Virginia.
There might be a coin show this spring at the Weyers Cave Community Center. It's worth attending!
