Would like opinions on this 1862 IH cent. I am scanning through plastic. There is a small rim nick next to the T and the E in UNITED. There is also mild discoloration on the reverse.

Nice looking coin ya got there.
Looks like ware on ends of the feathers and hair.
Forgot: reverse pic is real blurry (this may be me!), so just using obverse

If you can take better pictures it would help, from what I can make out I'm going to say VF-30.

I think this is better than a VF in its details. XF45 details but then nets VF35 due to the OBV hit. Nearly full diamonds. Just minor wear to 1st and 2nd feathers, but could be due to weak strike.

the ribbon/hair separation and diamond detail would put it in XF45, if not for the rim hit.

I agree too. The rim hit brings it to the VF category otherwize a solid EF coin. nlp
