Since I am a world coin collector, I thought I'd make a thread showing my finds as I go through bulk purchases.
Today I bought about 3 pounds of coins and on first look, no silver, but I did see some new countries, so we shall see how this progresses!

@tcd, are you trying for OFEC (one from every country)?

Cool! I only did that (OFEC) for my world birth year collection some years ago, but I occasionally poke around in the world coin bin at my LCS where I find countries that didn't exist back in my birth year. Will be interesting to follow what you've found

Ok yes very good. There are multiple OFEC lists posted here to help with your endeavor and this thread is one of my favorites. http://goccf.com/t/205766

Cool, Today I looked at 1/2 of a pound of the coins I acquired, no errors or varieties, but I did add 3 nations to my collection; Slovakia, Guatemala, and Trinidad and Tobago. Nothing photoworthy though. Tomorrow I will knowck out another 1/2 pound and we shall see.

Quote: I did add 3 nations to my collection; Slovakia, Guatemala, and Trinidad and Tobago. Good progress! I've never had a Slovakia coin in my collection. For what it's worth, I think any list for an OFEC collection is arbitrary to some extent (as you'll see from browsing that other thread). Because of the way you are approaching it, I would go for your first 100 or so countries before you even worry about it...

I am really liking that Cape Verde coin, those Mexico sets, and the Canada PL 10 cent coin. Santa was good to you indeed!

I myself am trying to build this kind of world set, except I'm staying between the years 1900 and 2000, a coin from every country from the world. Currently I'm at just over 200 countries/regions represented. Now I am in the hard area, trying to find the remaining 50+ countries that are scarce to rare. It is a fun project to try and locate very obsolete or rare countries that just never produced that many coins. (My sole coin from 1900 is a Crete 5 lepta).
