Hi there, I just found a 1929 s Walking Liberty in a coin lot I bought. The coin is Uncirculated, but it seems to have some relatively heavy hairline scratches, probably from wiping. I tried to upload some pics, but it wouldn't let me even after resizing (although you wouldn't be able to see the scratches anyways). Scratches aside, it looks to be an MS-64 coin. How much would these affect its grade, and would it be worth sending in to a TPG?

Most likely not - but would need pics to tell for sure.
How much squash could a Sasquatch squash if a Sasquatch would squash squash?

From the verbal description, I am assuming that it will most probably come with a 'comments' if sent for TPG. I guess that was the reason why it was bought at a reasonable cost.

If the hair lining is bad enough, there is a slight chance that it may not be graded.

Less eye appeal/comments vs collector demand, and thus value.

Without pictures, entirely your judgement to be graded or not. We can only speculate on the reason why it hasn't been graded before now.

My Personal Rule of Thumb:
If a coin has been cleaned, my starting point for value is 50% of catalog.
Then I go downhill from there depending how bad the cleaning is.

Thanks for the replies! I really appreciate it. Like I said, I can't upload pics, but it's probably bad enough to get comments.
