If you actually take the time to look at the coin, you start to see a lot of areas that are identical, which would have to mean the coin had to be struck numerous times to create those features. Some of the identifying marks are really subtle, but if you take the time to put the image into a photo editing program and you start to play around and layer transparent images over top of one another you can start to see all the different strikes. I've actually done this to a few of the pictures I'm uploading so you can see what I'm talking about. The first image is the original photograph of the coin and it is unaltered.

In the first photo you really don't see the outline of his hair and how it contours into the forehead, like how I matched it up in the last photo if the entire portrait were visible?

The first photo in the bunch is not edited at all ... I used a program to overlay the image to illustrate what I felt the marks shown on the original photo might be a result of. I appreciate everyone who took the time to look and respond, thank you. Its helping me become more aware as a coin collector.

The first photo is all that is needed, although a picture of the entire coin front and back is always helpful. In this case though it is just a normal circulated Lincoln Cent.
