Hi friends. I have this 2000 Lincoln Cent that looks different to me. There is hard plastic at the bottom. I tried to chip it off with a fingernail but it didn't chip. If I use a point to try to chip it off, it might come off but I don't want to mark the coin anymore than it is. As you can see, the cent is also two toned. Your comments are requested. Thanks

I think you nailed it. Some adhesive on the coin. You could try an acetone soak if you wanted to try something.
Check out my counterstamped Lincoln Cent collection:

Tell him to check for a WAM first.

Check for a WAM and if no, spend it. If it isn't a WAM it's not worth the effort to remove the glue. Life is too short.

A guy asks a simple question and all he gets is wise butt answers. Where are the comments about the two colors on the coin? Ideas on how this happened.

Glue was the the answer. The glue protected the part of the coin it was covering. We see coins with glue on them at least once a week.

As bobby said it is covered in glue. The glue protected the lower half by not allowing the environment to oxidize or tone that section. Hope that answered your question about the two different colors.

If you want respect, you have to get the subject-line and coin correct!

Come on man. First you refer to a totally different coin in your title.
Then you show pics of a coin that has obviously been dipped into plastic which of course could/would never happen during the mint process.
Next you reply with your comment about a guy asking a simple question-------really?
Sounds to me you are posting nonsense in order to try to get a reaction rather than an answer to a serious question.

Happy New Year!!!

I'm sorry, just didn't see where you asked any questions - you just asked for comments and you received comments.
