I am fairly certain that this is authentic. I might be over analyzing this, but is there a seam on the edge?

Difficult to make out the details of the edge, but I don't think I'm seeing a seam. Fabric looks good to me.

Thanks Bob, once I have it in hand. I'll further examine it.

If there is a seam, the beveled edge between the fingers may be the clue.
Like the OP the jury for me is still out, but my leaning initially, is towards genuine.
Compare the style of coin pictured against as many other pictures you can find.
Google Images, Vcoins and Wildwinds are great tools for this exercise. Search:- 'Vitellius denarius'.

The very first fake coin that fooled me was a fake Vitellius denarius. At the time I acquired it, I was a very green newbie collector of Roman coins.

A dealer, who became a lifelong numismatic friend of mine, explained why it was a fake.
It turned out to have a lead core with silver plating, and the style was questionable.
Looking back, it may have been a plated fouree, but that was never mentioned.
I gave it to him, to add to his reference collection of fake coins.

Yes the style is good on this, but you can never be too sure until you have the coin in hand. I have been fooled too, but never on a big purchase. This was a good deal and I had to pull the trigger. Only 3 more to go to complete my 12 Caesars - Caligula, Claudius, Otho.

The three details that make me just ever so slightly nervous are the raised dot behind Concordia, the total absence of any striking induced cracks in the flan, & the piece's overall uniform roundness. Not that these are by any means "proof" of its being a forgery, but taken together, they still give me pause.

This is an excellent candidate for analysis of its composition via xray fluorescence (XRF).
