I would be curious to hear people's estimate of the grade on this coin. I think I have a sense of where most of the regulars fall on the ICCS/NGC/PCGS spectrum but it might be helpful if you indicated whose grading philosophy you're going with. Thanks and happy New Year everyone!

XF-40 cleaned and I have no philosophy. I just see too much wear on the hair/buns to be AU and it's been roughly cleaned.

@DBM - why kidding? They're all pretty different no?

there is only one grade. The amount of wear combined with strike quality. Anything else is smoke and mirrors. IMO. VF 30

From a down south point of view (USA)...EF45 cleaned.

It all depends on the resolution. Of the pic and whether the definition produced is solid. The obverse here would probably benefit from an in-hand inspection. VF-30 minimum.

I would have said VF35 from a Canadian perspective. :)
And yes, Canadian mid-grade grading is significantly harder on the grade than US grading. I wouldn't be surprised to see PCGS grade it XF40 or 45. IMHO it was a valid request.

IMO, this coin would push at EF40 with every other TPG but stays at a nicely attributed VF-30 with ICCS due to the circulation marks and not perfect strike. Cheers

All the same, I don't necessarily always agree with ICCS grading and would mark EF-40 on the holder if this were in my collection.
Cheers
