I have this 1970 no mint mark and pretty dang sure it is a small date and it has an off color I am just getting into coin collection and any input helpful thanks in advance    |

And it weighs 3.1 so I would consider it copper but did they have small dates with no mint mark |

 to CCF. The no MM means it was made at the Philly mint. The SD was made at the San Fran mint. Need close up pics to tell,but since yours is not a S mint in doesn't matter that much. The off color looks like environmental toning. 3.1 grams is normal for a copper cent,1970 should be 3.1 John1  |

Sorry, but I believe both cents shown are large dates. The curl in the 9 is the easiest way for me to tell. The following is from our CCF member Coop. Just San Francisco mint cents that year had the small date:  None from Philly. |
