csands1183 New Member United States 19 Posts	Posted 01/13/2021 2:48 pm Found this today. Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts. Pretty rough shape. Looking at the cent I cant see any copper even under a 10X lens. I am a rookie to all this but wanted to know if I am seeing this right. Do you think someone chemically removed it? merclover Bedrock of the Community United States 10635 Posts	Posted 01/13/2021 9:02 pm I believe this coin was chemically altered. Could be environmental or deliberately in a HS chemistry class, who knows? Upon a closer examination, the subject coin appears to be a slight copper colour under the rim reverse top. Could just be lighting or left ever copper. There are two possibilities: copper has been removed OR the coin has been plated in pewter or zinc. Weight should be relativity close either way.
