From what you see (sorry the pic isn't better), is this an 1880 date error coin?

no mint mark means Philadelphia. Can't seem to match it with known varieties. Maybe another close-up or two from different angles?

Sorry, I'm a newbie. I'm not sure how to know what mint it came from without a mint mark, which this coin doesn't have. Any assistance to help identify if this is a date error coin would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for sharing your expertise

No apologies are necessary, we were all newbies once!
The mint mark is on the reverse. Always post photos of both sides of the coin for evaluation.

Thanks, Still not seeing anything unusual. Maybe someone with sharper eyes can chime in?

More focused pics would help, but it looks like the second 8 might be repunched over a 7 (8/7 spikes, or VAM-6). Not really an error, but could be considered an overdate variety. A straight on closeup of the date with better lighting would be helpful.
Rest in Peace

Close-up pic of the date, shown right-side-up, would help.

I agree with Zurie and dave on it being most likely a vam-6. I just checked out vamworld.com and to me it is a good possibility. Then if it is a vam-6, it would be one of the top 100 Morgan vams, and would probably sell a little bit better on the market. I would eyeball the condition grade of this to be about an XF-40 or so.
