I know this probably was discussed at one point, but I have a Proof W penny from my 2019 Proof set and have heard mixed opinions. Should I get it graded? Still originally sealed and handled with extreme care.

My understanding is that the odds of this coin making MS70 are 20% at most.

TCDs' coin is a proof, but still need to grade a 70 or it is not worth the expense to send it in. John1

I will post pics as soon as I get home. It will be tricky with the mints packaging but I will try.

Quote: But if I sent it in wouldn't value appreciate over time? First of all everyone has gotten off track on this one . TCD said it's a proof coin from a proof set , it is not an MS coin . To answer his question ; sure if it comes back PF-69 it will probably appreciate enough to cover your submission fees in 20 or more years .

I know ANACS doesn't sell as good as PCGS or NGC, but it's cheap, and it's fair grading. they have specials a few times a year the last one ended Jan 9th, but it was authenticate, grade, and encapsulate 12 coins for $119, and including FREE return shipping. this will get you around $10 for grading and encapsulation though per coin which ain't bad for U>S> coins valued at $500 of less. Will it be worth it to do it? I dunno, like was said it has to come back proof 70 if it comes back PR69, it's $20 and you're likely taking a loss on the shipping at that price point after all is said and done. I haven't sent coins for grading ever, but you know I been thinking real hard about this ANACS deal and may do it when the next one comes along. NGC and PCGS are out of my budget range because most of what I'd like to send are kind of fishing to find out how it grades out by them, or lower value varieties I'd like to do, that I won't recover costs no matter what on. but would like to have them attributed regardless. Starting to feel like one TPG is just as good as another for an opinion, and really that's all that it is, their opinion... I know, I know NGC and PCGS sell for higher.... I'm not really looking to sell anyways lol
