Hi, I adjusted your picture and the coin does look like 1944 D/S. It is what we call Variety 1. I won't attempt to grade it. Thanks, Bill

I'd call it a VF20 OMM-01. Nice coin!

tepritts,
My pleasure. I use four different programs , some are so complicated that they drive me nuts:-) This was easily done by cropping and lightening with the picture manager in Windows:-)
Have Fun, Bill

That is OMM#1, however the coin is corroded. No major grading service would put that in a holder because of the damage done to the coin. I would grade it VF details, NET F12 because of the corrosion and discoloration. Nothing will safely remove the problems, so don't try it. It's still a scarce find.

Thanks for the comments. Personally, I thought it would grade VF minus the problems. Would an airtight be my best option at this point?
Just to assure everyone, I've been collecting 40+ years and have never cleaned a coin. Just happy to add one more coin to fill a hole in my collection.

If you keep it raw, I recommend Intercept Shield holders. They are designed to prohibit further toning or corrosion. If you TPG it, I recommend NCS .

Don't bother paying for a slab. It would eat into the value of the coin. It has been correctly identified so that wouldn't be an issue. Anything else is , in my opinion just spending money for nothing.
Conserving the coin isn't free.
Thanks, Bill

I'd quote vermontensium: "I recommend Intercept Shield holders. They are designed to prohibit further toning or corrosion." if I knew how to do that in the post. I'm old and set in my ways which means I try to limit future damage to this coin by using an Intercept Shield holder. I am not a slab fan and would not subject my coins to that torture or my wallet to the expense. Sorry, if I offend anyone. I enjoy collecting coins and invest in other financial instruments not coins. By the way, my phone number when growing up was one long ring followed by two short rings if than means anything to you.

No offense taken. Use the Intercept Shield, they are more than sufficient for this coin. Quote: I'd quote vermontensium: "I recommend Intercept Shield holders. . Right click in between the "][" and paste the quote you copied. Hope this helps.

The photo is not the greatest, but on the reverse to the left of the CENT is a large (3-4 mm) corroded circle. Also, some dreaded green in a few letters. Everything else is just bad lighting.
Otherwise it's a perfect coin and best point I've got my 1944 D/S OMM1 to go with my OMM2. Just need one more: OMM3. Has that one been verified or Does anyone have a picture of it?
