Won a bid on this guy for around $25. I don't have one like this in the collection yet, so I'm happy to put this one in. In hand this coin has great luster, red and orange around the edges and slightly towards the center. I'm not very sure what to label this one, I've seen coins like this called full brockage and struck through capped die, so I'm kinda confused on what this is. I'm guessing it's a struck through capped die. Can someone help me figure out what to label this? P.S.- Weighed the coin just to be sure it's copper, and sure enough it weighs 3.1 grams. Man that one just did not get the memo as to how it was supposed to turn out. Could not follow directions like the other 3,000,000,000 managed too.
Sorry but this one is way over my knowledge base.
Very very cool though. Looking forward to finding out from the forum what this should be labeled with..

Superb struck through die cap. The brockage is really strong and while I'd think this an early stage, I've seen similar ones labeled as mid-stage. And you underpaid, as similar coins usually hit around $50. Maybe the reverse kept it back a bit.

It is a stunning example of a struck thru a Capped Die and as mentioned, it carry's a higher premium than what you paid.

Hi, I think it's a good purchase. If you want, you might be able to nail down a date range using THe reverse design varieties here http://varietyvista.com/01b%20LC%20...arieties.htmAnd from there, it's 3.1g so it's 1982 or earlier until 1959 for starters. maybe identify the year using die cracks (looks like theres one from the center of the right pillar to the last A in America) with the RDVs you should be able to narrow down the window though. it can only be RDV 1-4 or 8. Anyways, congrats on your purchase!
