Pretty strong die transfer looks a little weird though. Something on the mint mark too. Maybe a die gouge. Not exactly sure what I'm looking at so any help or comments appreciated

Yep, "Progressive Indirect Design Transfer" (PIDT) from worn dies ( Die Deterioration). Don't know about the Mint Mark though.......

Yes for sure struck with a tired die--that might explain the flow marks around the mintmark too.

Thanks Rothery. I knew I was close to the definition. It's a little worn down but a keeper to me because the strength of the transfer and the mint mark anomaly

Thanks Spence. It could be part of the die flow lines. Probably die abrasion mixed with the flow lines

This is before the DDD. It is just extreme die wear. I consider the DDD examples on the single squeeze dies that show the raised area on the fields and not on the devices. On this one it is showing extreme die wear, rising die flow lines and something going on the the right side of the building. There is also Progressive Indirect Design Transfer on the reverse.

Also showing a lot of circulation wear. So a lot going on, but still worth a nickel.

Thanks coop. I like some worn die coins. Got this one for five cents so gonna hold onto it. Not sure exactly what's going on with the mint mark also. That thing to the left of the mm is raised pretty high
