no mint error, just a dime in rough condition ( PMD). No mintmark means it was minted in Philadelphia.

1980-P was the first year a philly FDR dime had a mintmark on it. It is on the obverse now to date.

It looks like damage to me. The missing mint mark means that it was struck in Philadelphia.

yes I get that no mint mark means Philly what about the W being on rim of coin

Far as I know, the only W on your dime should be the W in WE.
Probably a scratch. The initials on the obverse are JS for Designer John R. Sinnock.
