Hi, if you want the RAREST Canadian coin in existance or perhaps non-existance would be the correct term! It would be the 1911 Canada silver dollar. Only two known and you can rule me out as one of the owners............LOL. This particular coin sold for a whopping 1 million dollars U.S. 4 years ago at an International Auction in New York City. However, if ya like I have an 1893 Round Top dime I paid too much for, I'll sell ya for half that>$500.,000 . If yer interested just let me know. Glenn

I want that 1911...maybe I can buy one in China? Perhaps the rarest of all is an early trial or pattern coin which is so far undiscovered. Sorta joking, sorta not. I bet the RCM forgets a lot of trials. In Canadian coins, I keep trying to cherry-pick the 1858/1558 10c. Or even the 1908 5c "large 8".

The 1911 pattern dollar, total mintage: 3, two of which are in a museum. According to Wikipedia, the 1921 50¢ is the scarcest circulating (non-pattern) coin. Mintage: 206,398 but most of these were never released from the mint; the only survivors were sold in coin sets. Estimated surviving population: 75.

Snaz, A friend here told me she once found a 1969 LD 10c, and spent it without knowing. Glenn, happy to host the pic of the 1893--feel free to email it my way.

I wouldn't say the rarest, but the scarcest is the one I'm always looking for!

Actually ya know what! There is no such thing as RARE anymore, reason I say this is because if you belong to E-bay, the world is your playground. The other day I purchased a RAW 1892 , Large 9 , Obverse #6 dime for under $200.00 Can. I sent it to God (I.C.C.S.) and it was returned to me as a VF-30. Trend value $1,400.00 Can. So whatever your looking for, just remember, it's not money you need, it's patience! Because sooner or later, everything turns up on E-BAY! Glenn
