It may not be pliars in the conventional sense, but something 'like' plairs could have made the damage. Anyhow, it's of little consequence what caused the damage. It could have been some kid with a punch tool and a lot of time. It could have been a conveyor belt pulley in a butcher shop. There are as many possible solutions as people to give you their opinion.
