So, is it or isn't it? Wexler and Coppercoins agree it is an RPM, while dr. Wiles at CONECA disagreed. Apparently at one point it had an FS number, but is no longer listed. If someone knows the backstory on these, could you fill us all in? Pretty wide RPM if it is, in fact, an RPM. This coin has a lightly struck through obverse, which gives it that odd look on the bust. Not a positive thing here. 1936-D/D Lincoln Wheat cent WRPM-008, FS-501

This is indeed an interesting RPM variety. I think the mm above probably started out as the primary and after the initial tap on the die it was realized as being too high and the punch was moved down slightly. That is just my opinion. Beautiful cent regardless!

Cool one. I see it as an RPM, has the right shape and look.

A beauty! An amazing RPM no doubt. It is my opinion that this is an RPM. The shape and the position leaves me thinking it's a mint Mark. It would be quite a coincidence to get a couple gouges like that so close to the primary MM in such a shape.

Thanks folks! It's another one that I have to wonder if CONECA will reevaluate now that Dr. Wiles is no longer in charge of such things.

Maybe a fresh enough die example had not been submitted to Wiles?

I agree. Maybe they didnt have an example good enough. This sure looks like an RPM to me . The vertical bar is going the same direction as them polish lines. Maybe thats the direction they're going in

I feel that it's an rpm as well. Definitely one that I have been keeping an eye out for. Big Congrats !

Just guessing, but my thought was about the same as Klocc's. There are a number of fairly similar vertical die scratches in that area, so the vertical bar could just be a red herring. If you put your thumb over the vertical bar, the eye stops filling in the upper curve and you end up with a pretty iffy RPM.

I have 87 of these. All are BU I have sent several to both Wexler and Wiles. The one listed on the coppercoins site is my coin actually. The best I have is that PCGS has put one of mine in a holder labeled "Repunched Mint Mark" Minor variety. I have one in an ANACS holder labeled WRPM-008. Someone should figure something out because apparently this is a tough bugger to find.
