Searching a US dime roll and this popped out at me.

Not the greatest shape but it would be my first silver find.

Coin sandwiched between two US dimes...

From 1968-2010 the British 5 pence is made of copper-nickel just like a clad US dime.

Foreign coins don't do the same as the US with the two-colored edge to show cladding.

The last time UK currency coins contained any actual silver was 1946.

Still legal tender here for 5p!

I've had US quarters turn up in bags of 10p coins over here!

Also US coinage is only 8.333% nickel and 91.666% copper, hence why its so coppery on edge and loses colour quickly. British and Commonwealth Cupro nickel was usually 75% copper and 25% nickel.

But most Commonwealth and British coinages now are stainless steel and the like, although Australia holds out with copper nickel 5c, 10c, 20c and 50c

In the UK the 20p and 50p are still cupro-nickel - it is the smaller coins - 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p that have gone to steel.
