From what I can find I rhink it is real, but what do you think?
the auction ends in 40 minutes..

On ebay, I might buy this coin:
1 Shilling 1720 King George I 1st bust GEORGIVS Great Britain Very Rare KM# 539

ebay item number:174618384832

The following link is a site on British coins. I think that the listed coin above and the one in the link below are the same.

It's real, but I couldn't live with that terrible gouge across the obverse. Horrible!

And it isn't 'very rare'. You'll be able to find an undamaged specimen in the same grade, for the same price.

ya the canyon is real, but what about the coin it lives on?

You see, years ao I started a goal to get one coin from every reining King/Queen in England. so far I have from Queen Elisabeth I right through Queen Elisabeth II - with 3 exceptions:

James II (1685-1688)
George I (1714-1727)
and
Edward VIII (1936)(which did not mint any coin at all due to his advocation)

I also have Edward I (1272-1307)
and Edward II (1307-1327)

George I coins are plentiful. Why on earth would you choose to buy this one?

@ Hogarth:

I see you are from the U.K. maybe you can be of assistance to me.
I'll forget about the above coin after hearing from all of you above. - many thanks on that.

I can tell you that during the time I lived in Wales, is when I had acquired the English coins I already have.

1720 date scarce, but certainly not rare.
Damaged coin with the very obvious scratch.
I think current bid of $76 a bit too high.

Totally real and apart from gouge a decent specimen.
I think beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I would not say no to it.
