this is the first one I've owned also have a 1906 now but it has been bent some how this one is the better shape one I havent heard much about them

Yes common for this series, but still a pretty cool coin to have. I'd store this one in a 2x2.

....more like $12 a dozen. These low-grade, common Indian cents usually sell for $1 each at coin shows.

Since you say you haven't heard much about them, I'll just say these "Indian Head" designs are actually a representation of Liberty wearing an Indian headdress, not a native American. The headband actually reads "Liberty" where it is worn smooth on yours. The first years (1859-1864), they were a copper-nickel coin, and in 1864 (until 1909) they switched to bronze. The year of your coin, 1907, there were 108 million minted, which I believe is the highest number ever minted for any U.S. coin of any denomination up to that date. So, as you probably gathered from the other responses, it is cool but not high-value. Perfect sort of coin for getting into collecting.

Very often the first few coins you ever own are the ones that you really like the most. These coins have a lot of history in them. Enjoy
