I was given this as a gift yesterday and I'm not sure if it came from the mint or not. My question is about the color. Should it look golden like this or did it get plated?
I have never had any proof quarters before so I don't really know.

Looks like an original mint holder. The cracked holder might have contributed to the toning.

Looks like the proof set has had a tough life in storage.

So it's not toned or plated to look like this? That's nice to hear. Thanks

Looks like a standard mint proof set with some light environmental toning (not plated)--not terribly uncommon with proof sets I have a number of them with subtle/pale gold toning--very subtle.
