My step mom found out I was collecting coins. She gave me 3 big jars of quarters she's been collecting. One jar didn't have anything newer than 2013. All in great shape.

Jackpot! Sort them by year, then look for anything unusual. Become figure with the different types, and decide what sort of collection you might wish to build. I'd suggest purchasing a copy of The Red Book of US coins. Don't spend any of your quarters for now, and just have find with you lucky finds!

Find a reference source that will help you narrow down what to look for. Good luck!

That'll be fun to go through! Be sure to post some photos. Is she expecting them back after you sort through them? [:d]

Very nice stepmom. I'd do a quick 15 minute look for silver and deposit that $375 in the bank.

and congrats!

If you like the collecting part, unless you have silver or key dates/mint marks as was said, you might want to keep the best of each year and mint mark and bank the rest.

Stay well,
