I've come across a guy offering this "1978 Roosevelt dime minted on a copper Planchet". I explained that the normal weight of a Roosevelt dime is about 2.2 grams and a copper Planchet from 1978 would be 3.11 grams or would at least not be the regular 2.2 grams. Also explained that the dime was very likely Environmental elements damaged due to being in the dirt for many years, likely recovered by someone metal detecting and provided a picture of many orange coins I had recovered metal detecting.

What do you all think?....Copper Dime or Environmental Damage?

Take a look at the coin and reply I received....please excuse his grammar.

Just a dug dime. I've come across quite a few rude people who have horrible grammar, makes you wonder if they are using a voice recognition program and it just doesn't work right. Or else maybe they should take all that pent up hostility and put it towards an English class or two online!

Not struck on a copper planchet. Environmentally damaged. Just walk away and don't interact with the individual.
