Terrible service over the last six months in particular. I described a month-long circus on a First Class package on another thread, and a dealer friend indicates he's had two-month delays on similar parcels. And yet, other First Class packages have gone through on 3-4 days as promised. USPS has had many staffing challenges for reasons that don't take much imagination.

2 days to go from Ohio to the regional service center, 5 days to go 10 miles to my house :(
My other package is still stuck in Texas for a week, I can almost understand that.
Every package I ordered from November till now has taken on average s week more prior to 2020 it was 3-4 days at the most.

I've had the same continual issue which stems from the Baltimore/D.C. area since late November. As a routine customer of MBarr out of Frederick, MD I currently have four waiting delivery for almost a month. And I'm only three hour drive away. Aside from a minor delay coming out of Texas as well, I can't really complain much about the postal service. All things considered, everything else is right on time.

On a side note. Suppose on an ordinary, pre-COVID day, a package took four days to arrive with a full staff. At half staff that's eight days, if being reasonable. So doing the math, are they completely closed? More like incompetence and poor managerial skills.

In my opinion a fair treatment of USPS ("Being Itself Again"), should ask when these problems began, and why.
My personal experience is that I never had a gripe with USPS until 2020.
Now our postal service is in such bad shape that other industrialized nations suspend shipments to the U.S. because we can't deliver the mail.
So ... what happened?

I'm just annoyed with how inconsistent USPS is. I shipped a package priority mail from a post office in Phoenix on Tuesday morning, and as far as I can tell from tracking, it hasn't left Phoenix yet. Then I dropped a first class package in a mailbox on Thursday (2 days ago), and tracking shows it was delivered to the buyer in Georgia this morning. I would have to say that although several packages had 1 to 2 week delays around the holidays, I haven't had a package go missing yet.

I've had some take a month as described by some of you all as well too, it's insane to say the least. More to the point, I had a package get to Japan in 6 days and a package going to nevada is on day 17, how the heck does that make sense?

Since about 01/15/ things are pretty much back to normal . Over 300 USPS packages all delivered promptly except one Priority that took 8 days looping around San Francisco.

I had coins that were mailed from Hungary on 11/23 that haven't arrived. I was patient knowing that there would be an unprecedented amount of Christmas mail. On 1/11 I filed a missing /lost mail piece claim and so far crickets.

No sense. I had 2 exact same packages shipped separately from Nyc from the same sender with same service level. One got here in 3 days. Other one is "delayed" after 10 days. The USPS does not care.

Not just USPS. I ordered from a company whose shipping center is eight miles away from me. It took three weeks to get the package. While I know they can't just stop the delivery truck at my house...they passed it three times before finally getting here.
I worked at the USPS in College. It is very stressfull for a clerk. You can literally have a supervisor stand two feet behind you for a half hour. It happens all the time. Why they get in your personal space. I have no idea. I understand that they have adopted the UPS approach and want less people to do more work. their turnover rate is horrible.

I'm wondering what happened to "the mail must go through." I'm in Texas and didn't go anywhere on Tuesday after the worst of the snow and winter weather hit, but we were able to go to the store in town (about 10 miles away) on Wednesday and saw many people out and about. The mail didn't run either of those days and I honestly don't know if they even came Thursday. If everyone else can get out, why not the USPS? I know that one of the rural carriers around here I see all the time has a vehicle capable of navigating wintry roads. Disappointing...especially after having a holiday on Monday when they didn't even have to try and deliver anything...

Quote: I'm wondering what happened to "the mail must go through." I am guessing that the problems down your way have been so extreme that... In places where snow and cold are normal, I have NEVER seen my USPS letter carrier miss a day. They might still be delivering at 7 p.m. on a snowy day, but they still deliver. My guess would be that the power loss at distribution centers might have meant there was no mail for them to deliver? Or that the temperatures were so low in those buildings that they would have been in violation of OSHA to open?
