Looks like a small die gouge.

I would also agree with CONDER101, simple die gouge, just my opinion...i believe this is to clean a scar to be a chip, again, just my opinion...

As I said it is a die gouge. Literally the die has been gouged. Some tool or hard object has hit the die at the tip of the C and created a gouge or dent in the surface of the die. That gouge fills with metal when the coin is struck resulting in the raised spike of metal seen coming off the tip of the C.

I would have to say a die chip Usually a die gouge has more substance and pointed don't look like a die gouge in the pics

Die gouge, die chip - either one, doesn't really matter much. Given the location, shape, and depth, I tend to agree more with a die chip.

Die gouges are caused by tools punched or scraped into or along the die surface.

Die chips are small breaks in stressed weak points in the die.

Both are very common, neither are errors, and neither warrant any premium value.
