I saw this one at the Great Collections site with 14 bidders going after this gem, shatter PCGS price guide by more than doubled its guide value. And with buyers premium, its over $80K.

Using the PCGS Cert app, the truview from PCGS has a darker appearance than the pictures taken by Great Collections.

Wish I have the fund, but I probably wouldn't paid it at that price without first checking it in person. No CAC either.

Right, td5173?! I mean, 80K for a coin w/ a mintage of over 9 million? Finest grade available or not, it's hard to believe. On the other hand, maybe for a 1916-D Mercury dime...

Another example ...when two or more people demand
quality they are prepared to pay for it .
Guides , Greysheet, and all the rest are pretty much meaningless
in these situations .

Me too! I thought I was the only member here that loved cars like this! Here's my dream car. A 2007 Lotus Exige S. It's as close to a Ferrari as I'll ever own and cost me less than this coin sold for.

Sadly, I no longer have this car, but I do have lots of memories and stories about driving it for a several years.
