My main collecting goal for this year has been to upgrade either the Liberty Cap Half Cent (1793-97) or the Liberty Cap Large Cent (1793-96) I currently own, but so far I haven't found one I like for less than my maximum yearly coin budget of $5000. Well, I've never even considered collecting any colonial coins (mostly because I just assumed they would be prohibitively expensive in decent grades), but then I saw a listing in an email newsletter from a shop I've purchased from before for a 1788 Massachusetts Half Cent in MS62 condition for "only" $3000.

Had it been from any other colony, I probably wouldn't have been interested. But, since I'm actually from Massachusetts...

To be honest, I'm completely stunned that I could get such an old coin in such great condition for such a relatively low price, but maybe the market for colonials isn't as great as that for early U.S. coinage.
