1920 UK George V Half Penny Error? - Coin Community Forum

KurtS Pillar of the Community United States 5318 Posts	Posted 12/20/2008 12:51 pm It is sort of hard to tell from the photo, and would have to be inspected directly to know the cause. Is this your coin? Firstly, the coin shows a lot of wear and damage, which may hide what actually happened here. It's possible that part of the planchet was delaminated and peeled away from the coin after the strike, or--the coin was just partially delaminated and someone "helped" and removed the rest. The wear could be hiding their tooling. Just a few guesses here...maybe someone knows better? Report this Post to the Staff
