An important clue in the 1994 movie, The Shadow, is what is ostensibly an antique Chinese coin. Does anyone know if this is based on a real coin, or is it pure fantasy?

The first two images are taken from screencaps from the Blu-ray of the movie and have been cropped, color balanced and compressed to fit the image size limit. I believe these may be computer generated images of the prop coin, since the coin is flipped to Alec Baldwin's character and these frames are supposedly taken of the coin in flight. The last image is also from a screencap that has been cropped and compressed, but shows an actual prop coin.

@cjh, one of our members (willieboyd2) seems to post about coins in films quite a bit here on CCF. Maybe reach out to him to see if he has already researched this one? My only other thought is that if this isn't just a fantasy prop, then it might be a Chinese charm such as are somewhat cataloged on primaltrek.com.
