2019 Idaho State Quarter Missing Clad Layer

iamavol New Member United States 29 Posts	Posted 03/04/2021 1:51 pm I hope these are better pictures. It looks like I have a 2019 Idaho State Quarter with a missing clad layer on the reverse. Thoughts? I have never seen one in person Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 03/04/2021 2:09 pm When you look at the copper layer on the edge of the coin, if it was missing a clad, it would be that color, not the lighter color you are seeing on the coin. So your coin is normal. Just an alteration of the color on the outside of the side you are looking at. The difference in color would be this strong: Report this Post to the Staff

For the future, you can also weigh the coin. If it is within normal mint specs, then it isn't missing a clad layer. merclover Bedrock of the Community United States 10635 Posts	Posted 03/07/2021 02:22 am Environmental staining/toning/decolourization from exposure to a mild acid (like coffee) or even to just sunlight. It's PMD that can happen a million different ways. to the CCF! Report this Post to the Staff
