I hope these are better pictures. It looks like I have a 2019 Idaho State Quarter with a missing clad layer on the reverse. Thoughts? I have never seen one in person

When you look at the copper layer on the edge of the coin, if it was missing a clad, it would be that color, not the lighter color you are seeing on the coin. So your coin is normal. Just an alteration of the color on the outside of the side you are looking at.
The difference in color would be this strong:

Good copy. It is definitely not that dark. the whole side is golden...kinda pretty though. Thanks

@iam, for sure this one is environmental toning on that one side. I agree that it is kinda pretty though.

For the future, you can also weigh the coin. If it is within normal mint specs, then it isn't missing a clad layer.

Environmental staining/toning/decolourization from exposure to a mild acid (like coffee) or even to just sunlight. It's PMD that can happen a million different ways.
