Sorry about the pictures, it's the best I have from the listing. So obviously it's a bit of a guess right now. I'll take better pictures once I have it in hand. Give it your best shot! It will be sent in somewhere once I have it home.

Picture a little out of focus for the reverse, but I will make a guesstimate at MS-62.

Hey everyone,
Thanks for the responses. I landed on a guess of 63-64 when I bought this too so it's nice to hear I wasn't off base compared to the rest of you. I totally get that the pictures aren't perfect and it is just a guess. My inclination is to send it off to PCGS when I get it in and see what they think. I loved the toning on the reverse as soon as I saw it. I knew I was going to buy it as long as the price didn't go too high. :)

Another collector recently asked whether his dollar was a woodie/woody (woodgrain toning), and I replied that I don't think there ever was a silver coin called a woodie. I stand corrected - voila, silver birch toning. Sonofagun !!

That coin is a very possible ms65 at ICCS. At the very minimum, an ms64. I'd put money on that bet. Can't say for PCGS, as I only know how ICCS grades. By guess for PCGS would be anywhere between ms62 and ms66. I would strongly advise sending it to ICCS. I should add one important point and that is, due to the brightness of the picture, or as we call it 'the ebay tilt', there may be hidden problems on the coin, such as most commonly found are hairlines on the coin's surfaces. Hopefully they are not present.

That is a thing of beauty. Any speculation on the curious toning on the reverse?

Still sitting in the safe. Think I'll send it to PCGS first and see how it goes. If that's not so great then I'll crack it and send to ICCS. It is a gorgeous coin. :)
