Just cracked this coin from a basement slab and noticed the strongly doubled eye.

Hm it's more severe than the 1927 DDO-002, but that doesn't mean it's not the DDO-002.

Most likely an earlier die stage, which would certainly match the condition of the coin.

An absolutely astonishing coin for sure.

Very, very nice coin, well done! Makes you wish you could replace a plate coin when something this nice comes along to really show what the doubling looks like. Maybe they'd show it if it was found to be enough of a different die state?
