I've now completed one of the most difficult sets of literature I've attempted so far. A complete set of NBS Asylum issues in original issue (no photocopies). Thanks to Maria Fanning of Kolbe & Fanning Numismatic Literature she found all the back issues I've been searching for over the past 5 years and then traded them straight across for all the duplicate issues I had, costing me nothing out of pocket! Of course K&F has gotten a fair share of my income over the past few years in other sales and auctions.

But I was so happy to have finished this set finally, the ultimate goal is to have them hardbound, I already have the first issues done. Now I'm off to make a nice edit in my want list page here at CCF.

It would be helpful if you told us what NBS Asylum issues are.

Sorry, the Numismatic Bibliomania Society (NBS) Newsletter (The Asylum). For those that aren't members you should all at least join the free weekly (Sunday night) newsletter (E-Sylum) that the NBS puts out. Wayne Homren is our editor and has been putting these out every week since 1998. It's a great newsletter not at all only on literature, but covers many fascinating points and stories in the field of numismatics world wide.

You can see the entire archive of back issues and subscribe here: https://www.coinbooks.org/esylum/index.html

I get the weekly email, but usually end up reading it at the linked website page as it's formatting is generally better than it is in email format. Lots of photos included, reviews of new books, auction catalogs, interesting stories found, quizzes and each week I learn at least something new, without fail.

The entire run of the NBS Asylum is also found in PDF at the Newman Numismatic Portal but having my hard copies allows me to have them hardbound in a set. Something I've wanted to do for awhile now. I have an entire run of Rare Coin Reviews (Bowers & Ruddy/Merena) as well as a complete set of Numismatic Scrapbooks too. I've thought of doing the Rare Coin Reviews but it would be prohibitively expensive to complete a hardbound set of all the Scrapbook issues. It's around 41 years or so at 12 issues every month. Right now they are stored in boxes that take up at least 8 linear feet of shelf space, so that's not happening.

@westcoin: Congrats on completing the NBS set! I too enjoy adding periodical titles to my bookshelf and have worked on several sets over the years. It's always a good feeling when a set is completed!

Thanks commems! It was my fourth complete periodical set completion. The others I've done and still have are:

The Numismatic Scrapbook 1936-1977
Bowers "Rare Coin Review" 152+ issues
Money Tree's "Out on a Limb" 21 issues
Castenholz & Sons "The Numismatic Messenger" 24 issues

There are a few others I could probably finish off as I have many of the rare issues, like:
the John Reich Society Journal
The Fly-In Club's "Longacre's Ledger"
The Barber Collector's Society Journal

I'm also working on Heritage "Legacy," "Numismatic Insider," and Ivy/Heritage "Numismatic Journal," and "Numismatic Monthly" magazines.
"Buy the Book Before You Buy the Coin" - Aaron R. Feldman - "And read it" - Me 2013!
