Trying To Determine The Error On This 1985 Dime

Yokozuna Pillar of the Community United States 4618 Posts	Posted 03/10/2021 1:34 pm Looks like an inadequate upset problem. LOTS of 1985-D dimes seem to have the same. The upset mill didn't raise the "proto-rim" as it should have, so the dies were striking a planchet that was too flat. That left areas on the coin that are weak and lack the proper detail.
